Found Objects (Altar Pieces), shed deer antler, selenium, linen rope and thread; turkey feather, grass, twig feather, thread. A collection of items found within the urban forests of Chicago, woven collected and joined together. In elevating these bones, grasses, feathers and twigs, each piece is elevated into an object of reverence and consideration, reminding the viewer that nature’s beauty and bounty is all around us at all times.

@tkb.studio | Throughout history, the patriarchy has been baked so thoroughly into our psyche that it’s unnoticed by most. As a female artist, I am keenly aware of how this system of male power and privilege has influenced the way landscapes are perceived and represented, defining the landscape in terms of ownership, control, and exploitation, a resource to be harnessed for economic gain, rather than as a living, breathing entity with its own intrinsic value. In my artwork, I aim to ignite a connection with the environment, sparking a sense of responsibility and care, and to challenge the status quo that perpetuates the subjugation of both women and the earth. I explore the interconnectedness of all living beings and the ways in which we are all dependent on the earth for our existence. By highlighting the beauty and fragility of the natural world, I inspire viewers to consider their relationship with the environment and question the patriarchal mindset that seeks to dominate and exploit it. Through my art, I aim to shift the narrative from one of control and power to one of reverence, stewardship, discovery, and wonder.
