Performing at the Opening Event on Friday, June 14th from 6-10pm
@ladylombre | Spoken word featured at Opening Event. Poem one, “She just wanted a ride home,” is a Pro-Choice poem fighting liberation against controlling patriarchal of women’s bodies. I feel like colonialism and the greedy urge to control land and women is abusive. The 2nd poem “For Gaza” references tragedies from the genocide in the Gaza Strip and the stealing of land and the harm done on the people in the process. The 3rd poem “Grieving Grounds” is referring to the raping & pillaging throughout areas in the Congo. Millions of dollars worth of Gold, Cobalt, Diamonds and other minerals are being illegally taken by rebel groups and sold to companies such as Apple to use the Cobalt for phones & electronics. I think each of these poems reference the struggle for liberation of the body or of land.
