@ukuladylisa | I’ll be performing an original song called Puppet on a String. The lyrics are quite personal to me. It themes of breaking free from abusive relationships and societal constraints. In the context of deconstructing the patriarchy, my song can serve as a poignant narrative of overcoming the oppressive dynamics often perpetuated by patriarchal structures.
The imagery of being a puppet on a string can symbolize the feeling of being controlled and manipulated, which is a common experience for many individuals. By highlighting my journey of breaking free mentally, I have not only reclaimed my agency but also challenge the power dynamics inherent in patriarchal systems that enable such abuse to persist.
Music has a unique ability to evoke emotions and spark introspection, making it a powerful tool for social commentary and advocacy. My song has the potential to resonate deeply with listeners who have experienced similar struggles, while also raising awareness and fostering dialogue about the need to dismantle patriarchal norms and support survivors of abuse.
By sharing my story through music, I hope to contribute to the ongoing conversation about gender equality and along the way, empower others to recognize and challenge the toxic aspects of patriarchy.
