This piece is a reflection on the ingrained cultural complicity to systematic racism and both the deformation that happens within individuals found within the dominant subsections of a culture and the paralysis felt when trying to address the problems from within.
@kevinclawler | KevinCLawler.art | My work at its most basic is breaking down our preconceptions to recognize and embrace the underlying complexities within life. They can be unsettling, funny, scary, or touching, sometimes at once. Ultimately I think we’re in a time where looking and embracing the complexities of life and each other could ultimately bring a more inclusive and empathic dominance in culture itself. I’m also an ex-art conservator turned stay-at-home father who mostly cooks and cleans.
